The Primate Special package combines the highlights of the country including the exciting chimp walks, wildlife viewing and of course the unforgettable gorilla tracking on a self drive car rental in uganda. An ideal safari for those in love with primates and an ultimate chance to do birding as well in these particular destinations

 

Day 1. Encountering one of the Big 5 and to the biggest game reserve.primate 1
Start your incredible self drive safari in Uganda through the capital Kampala city as you take a look around heading north west of Uganda.  After 3hrs on average depending on your superiority to drive, the route will lead you to the Ziiwa Rhino sanctuary. Opt for Rhino tracking and lunch thereafter. The Ziwa rhino sanctuary is a private ranch where you can track the huge fascinating Rhinos on foot with a ranger guide. Through the woodland and lush green dotted canopies of Budongo forest, get to see some of the few animals that the Murchison has to offer including the endemic Abyssinian ground horn-bill.  Opt to visit the top of the falls 12kms off the main Paraa en-route. Be able to view the thundering falls recorded as the most spectacular thing that has ever happened to the mighty river Nile.  Drive to the ferry and cross river Nile to Paraa side headed to fort Murchison. Through the park you will have done more less an evening self drive safari. Distance 250kms: Time 6hrs

Day 2. Discovering the biggest national game reserve in the pearl of Africa.
Another fun filled day of a self drive safari in Uganda’s biggest National game reserve. You will on this day enter from the primate 2Northern gate and preferably use the Delta track through Pakuba that will take you through to the wild savannah plains and great views of the Lake Albert. Oh, don’t pass by the dilapidated and old building on pakuba lodge. That is a den and a place to spot the leopard. Well, try your luck there. How about make a bush breakfast at the hippo pool? You may opt for that. You may need to carry a packed lunch box or have lunch at the paraa lodge and take the afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Maybe you could opt for the delta boat cruise to the Albert Nile.

Day 3. Transfer to the the known rain forest in Uganda.
Enjoy another exciting self drive through the gravy and murram road through masindi and Hoima towns that will lead you to fortortal a clean, lush green vegetation and a colonial town. Kibale forest National Park is a canopy and mist enveloped gtropical rainforest also referred to as the Primate capital of the world. With over 13 primate species, Kibale is home to the closest relatives of human and a sublime of bird watching activity. Distance 225kms: Time 6hrs
Accommodation: The kibale forest camp for a comfortable tent or the Primate lodge for upgrade. All nested and enveloped by huge and tall forest trees surrounded in Nature

Day 4. The close encounter with our closest relatives, the chimpanzees.primate 3
This is a day dedicated to chimpanzee tracking or habituation. Whichever your choice is that you want to spend with these primates, its absolutely possible. A swamp walk for different types of monkeys, red tailed, black and white, mangabeys, and home to the turracos. Its absolutely worth the adventure.

Day 5. The community walk to understand real Africa and game boat cruise in the Queens park.primate 4
Enjoy another eye-catching self drive car rental in Uganda after the close encounter with humans closest relatives. You can opt to be part of the community this morning on a guided community visit by the Kafred orgarnisation by visiting homes, traditional healers, witches, schools and understand how it all plays out in Uganda.  Proceed through the incredibly fascinating scenic crater lakes between fortportal and kibale forest that can be explored on foot. Be in time for the afternoon boat cruise that depart at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Distance 120kms: Time 3hrs
Accommodation: The bush lodge for budget and midrange or Mweya safari lodge for upgrade. These two lodges offer exceptional wildlife experience. Both strategically located facing the Kazinga channel with great views.

Day 6. The Queens game drive and the search for the kings of the jungle in Ishasha.primate 5
Enjoy this morning on an incredible self drive safari in one of the oldest and bio-diverse game reserve in Uganda. This is mainly a home to the cat family, Antelopes and the Big 4. The great views and game break at the kasenyi salt crater are not exceptional. A lot of wildlife and bird life is concentrated in this part of the park. Opt for a Scenic view through the crater drive and to the Pink dotted lake of flamingos you can double with a salt mine tour. You will then proceed south of queen Elizabeth National park in search of the elusive tree climbing lions of Ishasha on a self drive safari.
Accommodation: @the river ishasha or ishasha jungle lodge. Either of the two lodges gives a perfect definition of wilderness experience. Crafted nice cottages overlooking the hippo thronged Ishasha River.

Day 7. The kings of the jungle and transfer to the gorilla home.
Enjoy another insightful self drive safari in the morning after breakfast. Proceed to the park and do a morning game drive that will take you to the fig trees and search for the tree climbing lions once more or make use of the northern sector with a variety of wildlife with chances of hyenas and rare leopard. The topi, large herds of buffaloes, elephants, bucks, kobs are a common sightings. Consider starting another self drive roadtrip through the windy rivers of kanungu, the lush green vegetation of kihihi beautified with eye-catching steep and terraced slopes of Ruhijja before you arrive to the home of the Gorillas.
Accommodation: Gorilla valley Lodge or Mutanda Lake Resort. These are a combination of midrange, budget nested on hills overlooking the forest and the mutanda peninsula respectively

Day 8. The ultimate once in a lifetime wildlife encounter.
On this day you will be in for once in a lifetime wildlife encounter, the Mountain Gorilla experience. You will be tracking theprimate 6 Rushaga or Nkuringo groups situated south of the mist covered rainforest inhabiting 450 half of the world’s endangered mountain Gorillas. With packed lunches you will descend and get enveloped into the thick mist forest searching for the great apes. It is an awesome experience getting up-close and personal with human closest relatives.
Accommodation: Gorilla valley Lodge or Rushaga camp. These are a combination of midrange and budget nested on hills overlooking the forest.

Day 9. A moment at the second deepest lake in Africa known as the Switzerland of Uganda.primate 7
Consider having an early breakfast and set off at your own pace to the lake Bunyonyi through the gravy exciting and refreshing scenic views of the most fertile lands of kigezi. Through the eye-catching terraced steep slopes of the enveloped mist covered rainforest you will arrive at the fascinating and breathtaking famous lake bunyonyi the second deepest lake in Africa estimated at 900m deep.  You could opt for a calm dugout canoe or boat cruise, visit the the traditional islands including the up-side down island and the punishment island. local guides who double as the boat owners tell you all this history of the lake. Consider visiting and hiking to the top of the mountains and visit an isolated community living at the top of the mountain, the views while hiking are spectacular. Distance 80kms: Time 2hrs

Accommodation: Lake Bunyonyi overland camp or the Eco-resort Bunyonyi for an upgrade on the island offer spectacular and calm nights on the lake.

Day 10. Stepping in the African shoes.primate 8
This is another fun filled self drive car rental trip in Uganda. At your pace, have a relaxed breakfast, take your time to have lunch in Mbarara. Through the fascinating rolling hills of Kabale, encounter from time to time the long horned cattle and exciting villagetowns on the self drive roadtrip enrote mbarara. You can decide to have lunch in Mbarara at Agip motel or take up Auto Rental Uganda African lunch offer that involves enhancing your adventure with a treat to a Ugandan traditional delicacy of  an amazing traditional meal prepared by a truly Ugandan woman in an African home and in a simple setting. Day 11. In the home of Elands and zebras.
Enjoy an incredible self drive safari with a whole day in the park. With no dangerous predators like lions, Lake Mburo is the best place to go on a guided safari either walking, Game biking or horseback safaris. Lake Mburo this is one of the few National parks in Africa that allow night game drives with chances to see some of the rare nocturnal animals like mongoose, hyena, leopard and serval cat.

Day 12. Game drive and transfer to Kampala.primate 9
Finalise your self drive car rental trip in Uganda with a self drive safari as you get out of the park. Consider doing any extra activities in this small but amazing park. later headout through the exciting village towns and lush green vegetation with time to time long horned cow encounters that will bring you through the equator. If you have not been to this point at 0 degrees, the southern and northern hemispheres you may opt for an an experiment that illustrates this.
